We’re adding a new show into our season and working with Hollywood’s “Woman of a Thousand Voices,” Eliza Jane Schneider, who recently relocated to San Diego. Learn all about the rumors you’ve been hearing and then proceed to spread the news!

Wait, MOXIE is ADDING a show into their Season? MOXIE recently announced that the final show of their eighth season, Lucy Prebble’s Enron, would be delayed to provide time for fundraising. That delay unfortunately caused unsolvable scheduling problems which combined with financial challenges led MOXIE to cancel the production. However,  the incredible success of MOXIE’s recent Burlesque Fundraiser has got us back on track and now MOXIE is choosing to replace the production of Enron with a whole new show and we’re really excited about it!

“We met Eliza Jane Schneider and read her play once we’d already announced our eighth season, which has been about exploring genuinely American stories. Eliza’s show FREEDOM OF SPEECH was a perfect fit, but it seemed too late to add it to our season. When challenges arose with Enron we jumped at the chance to be the first company in San Diego to showcase her extraordinary talent,” says MOXIE’s Artistic Director Delicia Turner Sonnenberg who will also direct. “It’s a really exciting win for our company,” Sonnenberg adds.

So who is Eliza Jane Schneider? Schneider is a world traveler, many of the female voices on South Park and Hollywood’s premiere professional dialect expert. She also plays Liza on Beakman’s World. Schneider is a Hollywood defector who prefers San Diego’s South Park.  She has been seen (or heard) on Bravo’s Arts & MindsKing of the HillGirlfriendsWhat Women Want, and Finding Nemo. Moxie Theatre is proud to present the critically acclaimed one-woman, 34 character show, FREEDOM OF SPEECH, written and performed by Eliza Jane Schneider which won the “Best Solo Show” award at the New York International Fringe Festival, then ran Off-Broadway at P.S. 122, and ultimately moved to The Public Theater. FREEDOM OF SPEECH runs July 11––August 11, 2013 at Diversionary Theatre.

Why is MOXIE Performing at Diversionary? Remember that scheduling conflict that forced MOXIE to cancel their production of Enron? MOXIE’s space in unavailable during the run of Freedom of Speech and we didn’t want to postpone producing so our friends at Diversionary Theatre have welcomed us into their home. So grab your ticket now and catch the hottest show of the summer and see Ms. Schneider in the flesh!
